DYING DENOMINATIONS
Here is a link to an excellent column by Cal Thomas on the sorry state of the Episcopal Church and the Presbyterian Church (USA). http://www.townhall.com/opinion/columns/calthomas/2006/06/22/202096.html

On a Lighter Note
I recently came across this list of bizarre excuses that people have given for being late to work:
1. I dreamed that I was fired, so I didn't bother to get out of bed.
2. I had to take my cat to the dentist.
3. I went all the way to the office and realized I was still in my pajamas and had to go home to change.
4. I saw that you weren't in the office, so I went out looking for you.
5. I couldn't find the right tie, so I had to wait for the stores to open so I could buy one.
6. My son tried to flush our ferret down the toilet and I needed to tend to the ferret.
7. I ran over a goat.
8. I stopped for a bagel sandwich, the store was robbed and the police required everyone to stay for questioning.
9. A bee flew in my car and attacked me and I had to pull over.
10. I wet my pants and went home to change.

TURNING THE TELESCOPE AROUND
The great scientist Albert Einstein had little use for organized religion. The reason why, according to one observer, was that Einstein, in his study of the universe, had seen more of God's majesty than most Christians had ever imagined. Einstein had no use for the small view of God he encountered in many religious people of his day.
Perhaps many of us in Christ's church have been looking at God through the wrong end of the telescope. In other words, our view of God has been too small. My sense is that it is time to turn the telescope around and magnify God; it is time to get the spotlight off of ourselves and back on the Lord God Almighty. Psalm 150 can be of great help in this regard as we consider who God is and the awesome things He has done, especially through Jesus Christ our Lord.
"Praise him for his acts of power," the psalmist said, "praise him for his surpassing greatness" (Psalm 150:2). God is a God of surpassing greatness; He is an awesome God ... an exceedingly awesome God.
Now would be a great time to turn our telescopes around!
