ROLLING STONES
I learned today that Rolling Stone magazine considers Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" the greatest song of all time (Reference: "The 500 Greatest Songs of all Time," Rolling Stone, November/2004).
Thinking about rolling stones brings to mind a quotation from a Puritan minister named Joseph Hall, who wisely said, “There is no place for any loose stone in God’s edifice.” It is unfortunate that there are so many loose—and even rolling—stones in the church today. (I think here of one man I know who joined seven churches in less than ten years!)
Rolling stones make for great songs and magazine titles. They are not, however, fitting metaphors for followers of Jesus Christ. Instead, Christians are “spiritual stones” being built together into a house (1 Peter 2:5).
In a time when many Christians regularly roll from one church to another, or from one personality or fad to another, we do well to remember the corporate and relational nature of Christianity. The persons of the Godhead—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—relate to one another in loving, committed fellowship, and of course the same should be true of the people of God.

Comments:
Having lived in Nevada, and driven mountain roads, one of the biggest fears was rounding a curve and finding a boulder that had cascaded onto the road. Rolling stones Can be dangerous spiritually also.

Peace, Alan
